See SiS stockpile

During our coupon class at SCC a few weeks ago, someone asked where I managed to find space to store all my extra toiletries and supplies (hi there; it's me, Karen). I'm a great packer and crammer, so I have lots of storage containers that fill up the spaces under my bathroom sinks with shampoo and toothpaste and makeup. But for those bigger things and everything else that won't fit, here's my solution:

Yep, that's an old kitchen/microwave shelf that we keep in our garage. It's not super-pretty or anything, but it gets the job done. On the bottom in those crates, I keep extra shampoo and conditioner and shave gel. The totes on the countertop part hold toothpaste, razors, deodorants and more (and you can also see my cheap Mott's juice from Target that I stocked up on a few weeks ago!).

The cabinet above that holds dish detergent, paper plates and some random garage stuff (extension cords and tape). And you'll see my paper towels and toilet paper from CVS perched on top. I stocked up on that this spring and it should last us through the end of the year!

I've crammed a lot into a relatively small space, but it works for me. Where do you keep your stockpile?

See SiS Shop: Ingles and Walgreens

I finally made it to Ingles on Saturday night (the new sale starts Sunday there) and I was excited about the McCormick catalina deal -- if you buy 3 McCormick spices/extracts, you earn $3 on your next order. Well, vanilla extract was on sale and BOGO, so with coupons, that meant if you bought three it'd be a money maker of around $1.50. I was indeed punished for waiting until the last minute. There was only one package of extract left. I still picked it up -- it was just $0.50 -- and I also got some powdered sugar (they were on sale and the $0.50 coupon doubled) and free cinnamon rolls (after doubled coupon) to stock up for some holiday baking I'll be doing. I did get a raincheck for the vanilla extract so I hope they'll get more in stock before the end of the month, when the McCormick catalina deal is supposed to end.

I made a very quick stop in Walgreens on Sunday afternoon to pick up newspapers and roll some Register Rewards. I did this transaction twice and ended up paying about $4 for six newspapers, two toothpastes and two cold meds. I have about $19 left in RRs to roll.

Great deals for donations

We talked a little yesterday about uses for extra toothpaste, so I'd like to piggyback on that a little by sharing some great information posted by Jenny at Southern Savers. She's compiled a list of very cheap or free items that would make great donations during the holiday seasons, whether for a local shelter or Operation Christmas Child. Take a look and see what you can pick up.

We SAVE so much in Spartanburg, it's great to GIVE sometimes, too!

How to use all that free toothpaste

If you play the drugstore game, The Coupon High has some great suggestions for how to use all that extra toothpaste. Read it here. Have y'all ever tried any of the ideas she mentions?

A few years ago, we tried toothpaste for acne, and honestly didn't notice much of a difference -- but there are a few different uses for toothpaste in that article that we've never thought about. Let us know what you've tried and what works for you. And remember, if you still have more toothpaste than you know what to do with, donate it! :)

Oh, and if you want to learn more about the drugstore game, stay tuned for Karen Rhodes' coupon column tomorrow in the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. We'll be sure to post a link.

Free Similac On-The-Go at Babies 'R' Us

Use the $3/1 any Similac Formula product coupon to get free Similac On-The-Go Ready Feed (8 oz.). It’s regularly priced at around $2.49 at Babies “R” Us, but it’s being reported that the coupon doesn’t beep and will maybe even give you overage!

Even if you don't formula-feed or have any little ones at home, this would make a nice donation to a local charity.

It's Saving (and Giving!) in Spartanburg.

I know it's early Monday morning and you've clipped the coupons from yesterday (or maybe put them on top of pile of "things to do".)  I just wanted to remind you to look through the Parade - you know, that little thin "magazine" in the middle of the paper.  Taylor Swift is on the front cover and there is nice story about her starting on page 5.

Another "must" read is on page 13 entitled, "Men, Women & Stress" - I read it and I'm not mad at science....

There is a simple-sounding recipe on page 18 I think I'll try and on page 19 is a FREE coupon to KFC for a doublicious when you purchase a drink. Page 23 has three "Health & Wellness" high dollar coupons.  Page 25 will tell you how to save another $5 but since we love our readers, we'll tell you to log on to Chucky dot com HERE and the back cover has a $2/1 Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Product.

What a great week for a "Parade" - I love it!

Two inserts in Sunday's paper

This Sunday look for two inserts in your Spartanburg Herald-Journal (or your local Sunday paper.) There should be one from Smartsource and one from RedPlum. To get a sneak peek of the coupons just click on the banner above.
And remember, buy multiple papers - a good rule of thumb is buy a paper for every member of your family. If you're a family of four then buy four papers.

CVS savings 10/24-10/30

Well, it looks like another ho-hum week at CVS. This is the second week in row there's really been nothing that's lured us there. Oh, well, hopefully they are building up to a great week and we'll be ready!

For a sneak peek of the ad click here. Jenny at Southern Savers has all the deals listed here. As she said, there are few scenarios. But if you see something leave us a note and let us know.

Thanks Southern Savers and iheartCVS!

Rebate round-up

Do you use rebates? If not, then you should think about it - they are such an easy way to save and who doesn't like getting a check or a coupon book in their mailbox? Just last week I received a coupon book from ConAgra - to get it I only had to spend $10 on ConAgra products; items I was going to buy anyway. If you are new to rebates, it really helps to save ALL your receipts, you never know when one will come in handy.

To get started, or give you some ideas, click here for a fabulous rebate round-up put together by Christina at the Northern Cheapskate.

Don't miss out on coupons!

Here's an easy way to make sure you don't miss out on printable coupons. Just click above and you'll receive an email when new coupons are available. And, this leads us to another point - have you set-up an email account specific to coupons? If not, it's a great idea - just set-up an account to use for all these offers that ask for your email address. For us SiSers it's much easier to separate our coupon account from our personal/work accounts.
