Living ~ Spending ~ Saving ~ Playing

Thursday Thoughts ....
What's on your mind as this week draws to a close? Me? My beloved Target is starting to let me down and more ...
-Where's the love Target? Lately shopping at Target has just been too hard. First there are the employees that don't speak English. Yes' mam, I asked a clerk for help and she DID NOT speak English. Nothing against someone trying to earn a living but shouldn't you have to be able to speak ENGLISH if you are working in public? In America?
And then on this same trip there was the clueless cashier who didn't know how to handle coupons. Target, if you don't want people to use coupons that's your call - you're the big retailer, you make this rules. But if you are going to accept coupons, please, pretty please teach your cashiers how to do so. And while you're at it can you teach them to be friendly? And to smile? (oh, and give the ones that don't speak English a class in basic phrases?)
-Don't follow me! My family started February calling it Frugalary. Our goal was to save money this month. No extras. No new clothes. No video games. And life, well, it had different plans and we had to buy a new dryer. Thank goodness for our rainy day fund. Anyway, when I went to the first store to look the salesman followed me all over the sales floor. It was maddening. I wanted to linger at each dryer. Imagine it in my laundry room. Check prices. And he would not shut up! Here's a hint to all sales people. If someone says she's just looking give her some space. And if said person is wearing old sweats and her hair in a pony tail cause they rushed out to make the purchase before their hubs went out of town - give them a break. Don't keep asking how much they want to spend and point them to cheapest driers. I may be frugal but I want to get the most for my money. And, I had my rainy day fund with me!
-Whitney. While at Publix tonight, placing my organic milk on the belt, I looked up and saw Whitney Houston, in her casket, on the cover of the National Enquirer. Instantly a flood of emotions rushed through my mind. Caskets don't bring good memories. So here's my question - retailers take measures to cover magazine covers they deem are too revealing ... that may show too much cleavage. But it's OK to show someone in their casket? That picture was far more disturbing then some model or actresses wearing a bikini or less. And if my seven-year-old would have been with me and seen it I know he would have had lots of questions. Shame on all retailers who displayed the National Enquirer with the cover of Whitney on their shelves! Show some respect to her family and mine!
So, what's on your mind lately? Have the stores been treating you well? Leave us a comment and let us know!
