Good Sunday Morning!
I'm back from my wog (walk/jog) and feel great! (I always feel better when it's over and I'm back in the house!) I've read the paper and have several things to share with you as we countdown to the Olympics!!!! Woohoo! Can't wait!!! Although...if you're an Olympics fan like I am, you know this really means late nights and long hours in front of the tube watching our athletes strive to bring home the gold. I hate to miss any of my favorite events: Swimming, Diving, Track & Field, and Gymnastics. (No wonder I spend so many hours watching, I like just about everything!)
Today in the PARADE insert of the paper, the cover story is "Let The Games Begin" and there's several good reads inside too. The adorable Mary Lou Retton is on page two...she's 44 now and a hip-replacement gal. I hope she does some commentating from London this year. Page 6-9 have 23 on facts about the Olympics...did you know this is the 30th Olympiad but only the 27th Summer Games? Yep. Wars in 1916, 1940 and 1944 were the reason for the cancellations, but they counted as Olympiad years. - Don't you feel smarter already? :o) And page 9 is also where you'll find $5 worth of coupons too!
You'll find three coupon inserts too! A Moments To Save, a Red Plum and a Smart Source, too. And if you're reading the Spartanburg Herald Journal, look for coupons on pages A4 for Master's Mark, A8 for the new GB Shoes, B4 for Wilkins Optical, D4 for Econo Auto Paint, and E8 for Hobby Lobby.
Inserts that have coupons include Micheal's and Sears, so be sure to clip everything you'll use before you recycle your paper or use it to clean those windows. Do you do that? I do and I swear it works better than using paper towels and I feel sort of "green" for doing so. Just spray your Windex or vinegar solution (yep, I do that too) on the glass and wipe with newspaper. Pretty, clean windows and a great use of something I'd otherwise simply toss in the recycle bin...which is where it goes after I've cleaned the windows.
Now that I've got you thinking about cleaning windows....did you see the cover story regarding the Health Nightmare? Ugh. Mental health is important. For and to all of us. Page A7 has a story on Haiti and I am amazed at the millions of dollars we (America) poured in there with so few results to date. I'm thinking money should be poured in to the mental health associations and jobs here stateside. The city is looking into the curbside pickup of yard waste, see story page C1. Have you driven through streets where residents dump stuff on the curb for this pick up service. When I drive through the Camelot neighborhood I am amazed (and sometimes disgusted) by the amount of "stuff" dumped at the curb. Maybe the city's review will create a change for this expense/eyesore? (Sorry if I've stepped on anyone's toes. this is simply my opinion...and we all know what opinions are like.)
Page C5 has an ad from Radiant Research for overweight men and women. It's a drug study and it pays, so check it out if you are overweight and have heart conditions and Type II Diabetes. You may be interested in this.
Thanks for reading and supporting the Herald :o) Those $5 coupons in the Parade were well worth the purchase price of the paper...and you get the three inserts too! Woohoo #happydance
Have a fantastic week... and make sure you're ready for the Olympics opening ceremony at 7:30 this Friday 7/27/12. Go HERE for more info from NBC.
Hope you and yours make the most of this wonderful day!
Cheers and, thanks for reading!
