What a beautiful morning! After that late night downpour, my flowers and yard look amazing! It's mid-August and I still have grass in my yard, not that crunchy brown straw-ish stuff that usually appears by this time each year. Wow! I think I'll send up a prayer of thanksgiving for August rains!
I sat on my deck and read the paper. Looks of election coverage with the new VP announcement from the Romney side. A happy story of a couple of Wofford students who spent their summer in India. And a fantastic read on C2 about a diabetic teen and an amazing dog who can smell when her sugar gets too high or too low! How cool is that?If you are looking for a neat-o something to do on Tuesday, August 14, there will be a book reading & signing at Hub City Bookshops from 5:30 - 6:30. Cynthia Boiter, author of Buttered Biscuits will be there. See page C3 for details.
Page C9 has lots of shout outs to area teachers who've received awards! Yay teachers! The Sports Section has great coverage of the PGA Championship from our very own, Kiawah Island Ocean course. How cool is it that we've gotten national television coverage and stimulated the beach area economy too? I love it!
From the looks of page D4, both Clemson and Carolina football players have been busy on the practice fields. Can you believe school starts next Monday? Yep, D6 begins Monday the 20th, and the first home football game be here before we know it. GO HERE for all of our area high school football schedules.
Check out sweet little Georgia Kay Wise on page E1. How adorable is this eight-year old that can dance, sing and act! She's been cast in a touring Broadway production!!! Way to Go!
